English as a Second Language (ESL)

ESL classes are designed to teach students proficient English. Calvary Baptist Church’s ESL ministry began in September 2013 with a total of 11 students representing 2 countries (Myanmar and Israel) and 14 workers.  Since then, we have had more than 119 students from 30 different countries (Brazil, Bolivia, China, Colombia, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Egypt, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Mexico, Myanmar, Panama, Peru, Philippines, Puerto Rico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, South Korea, Thailand, Ukraine, West Africa) attend classes at one time or another.

What is ESL?  English as a Second Language or ESL classes are designed to teach students from other countries to learn to speak English or to improve their English-speaking skills.  But first and foremost, our goal is to share the Good News of our Lord and Savior to those who have never heard and/or accepted Him as Lord of their life.  What better way to reach the nations for Christ than through our ESL ministry!

Do you enjoy meeting people and learning about other cultures? You can do both by participating in our ESL Ministry…without having to buy airline tickets, fly for several hours, or wait in an airport! Our students come to us. Many are hoping to make friends. If you are    interested in making friends or if you’d like to learn more about our ESL program, please call Pat Chunn at 850.375.8062. We’d love for you to make plans to visit our ESL classes one Wednesday evening. Come and see how much fun we have as we impact people from other countries with the love of Christ.
