Deacon: From the Greek word diakonos meaning “servant.”
The Deacon Ministry at Calvary can be summarized in one word: service. Our priority is to follow the biblical mandate to care for widows & orphans in our church community. We do not guide our pastor on what to preach, we do not pick out carpet colors, and we do not govern the church...we simply serve.
Our service focuses in five specific priorities:
Ministry through Benevolence
Ministry to the People (i.e. hospitals, shut-ins, widows)
Ministry of Reconciliation
Ministry to the Pastors.
Exercise Leadership of the church during periods of absence of the Senior Pastor.
Deacons serve a 3 year term and then take a 1 year sabbatical before going through the nomination process to serve again. If you would like more information about our deacon ministry, please email our chairman, Clay Toyne.
